Notes: from BFA Ceramics Seminar, a course focused on critical discussion and engagement with studio work. This student used an opensource file, meant for 3D-printing filament, of a Gothic church. They used this file to 3D-print in clay to point toward the failure, or the gaps of algorithms of technology, bodies, and architecture.

This piece references the classical columns of antiquity made from porcelaneous clay bodies with alternating levels of feldspar and frits. Different components melt and deconstruct when the column is fired at cone 6.
